… We hadn’t followed the presidential race closely (shoot, I never even heard of Joe the plumber until after we returned home later that month), as my 60-mile days had become all-consuming. Training for Your First Ultra Run

An athlete from the United Kingdom sent me an email last week, asking about going from a current fitness level suited to 10K–15K trail runs to preparing to run the length of Hadrian’s Wall, an approximately 84-mile path along the ancient stone and timber fortification in northern England. He plans to do it in May 2011 to raise money for a UK-based charity, Help for Heroes, which gives aid to men and women of the armed forces. Continue reading
