DNA Aconcagua Jan 18 Update 1

It's about 10:30 am here at base camp on Aconcagua,. The weather here is
beautiful: sunshine, clear, with just a little bit of wind. Looking up,
there do appear to be a few clouds up high but we cannot see the actual
summit from here, so it's difficult to tell what the weather is actually
like on the route from Camp 3 to the summit. I asked some of the other
guides and staff for Aymara here at base camp if they had heard from Pepe.
If they know whether or not the DNA climbers are making their summit bid.
The response was, "No. We have not heard. We do not know. Maybe Pepe will
call on the radio around noon." So… we really don't have any news for you.
But, based on what the weather report was, and what the weather appears to
be from here, I would guess that your climbers are making a summit attempt
today. I will let you know news as soon as I hear something. Keep the DNA
climbers, and everyone on the mountain, in your thoughts and prayers today
for safe passage on Aconcagua.

    Hi Mick:

I am going to assume you are climbing the summit – and wishing you and all the group well. We are having the bad weather here – wind, rain, and trees falling. I hope that means you, in the southern hemisphere, are having the opposite…….

Can't wait to get a report.

    Sharon
