DNA Aconcagua Jan 19 Update 1

Still no direct radio contact from Marshall/Pepe up on the mountain. But, be
assured that “no news is good news.” If there were problems with any of the
DNA climbers we would have heard about movements up on the mountain to
assist them. It is common for the guides *not* to call in the morning from
Camp 3/Coleria to tell base camp that they are coming down, as long as
everything is okay. As I posted yesterday, we did hear that some, but not
all, of the group reached the summit, but we did not hear any names. I’m
sorry to keep all of you at home guessing – as we are here – but that is all
of the information we know at this time. I will let you know as soon as I
can who did reach the summit, and news that everyone is back here safely in
base camp. We expect that the group should be back here before 5 pm local
time. It will take a bit of time to greet everyone and get the stories, than
write, and get a post out. But I will send information when I can! For now,
say prayers for strong quads for all of the DNA climbers as they make their
descent from Camp 3 to base camp.

    Hi Heather,
Thanks for the update. I know you said not to worry and all but not hearing anything yesterday was a lot of stress…more just for the safety of the climbers.

Take care and thanks for the updates,

    Heather –

Rich and Paulette described my feelings exactly. It's amazing how much stress can be generated just by NOT hearing anything…! :o)

But we will try to be as strong as we know our climbers have been and 'keep the faith' — and look forward to hearing from them later today when they return to base camp.

Thanks for all the postings and information!! You have been awesome. (I love all the informational pieces by the climbers – great addition to the blog!)
