Michael Hansen makes his way through the penitientes, or “praying hands” ice formations just outside/above Plaza de Mulas base camp. The DNA climbers went up and down through the penitientes twice: once on an acclimization hike to/from base camp to Camp 1/Canada, and again on the summit push (and descent from the high camp/Independcia/the summit).

Michael Hansen, Alex Nemet, and Rick Newman on the 22,xxxx-foot summit of Aconcagua, the highest point on the South American continent and one of the Seven Summits. All three climbers expressed extreme gratitude for being granted safe passage to the summit, know that it took a lot of luck – and hard work by the entire group – to get them there; as well as personal effort and sacrifice from friends and especially family back home! Reaching to top of South America is a gift that these guys definitely appreciate.
DNA is incredibly proud of ALL of the cilmbers for their successes on the mountain, including new high-altitude records/personal bests!!! The GROUP was incredible: as individuals, and as a team.
